While stuck in lockdown, some of you out there will be searching for something in their wardrobe, and thinking, “damn my wardrobe needs a good clear out”. This is the most perfect time to take the opportunity of clearing out your wardrobe and getting rid of any unwanted items. Today, I will share with you 10 things you can do to liven up your bedroom.
1. Start with your floors and lighting

You need to think carefully about livening up your bedroom, especially when it comes to natural lighting and electric, as well as how the floor. Consider the floor of your bedroom as a “fifth wall”. If you believe that your floor looks very bland and dull, you can things such as adding a rug that has a variety of patterns, colour, and textures. For example, a brightly coloured shag rug can add a vibrant touch to the modern style. Furthermore, you should consider the light shade you have in your bedroom. Does it match the colour of the walls? Is it beginning to lose colour? Adding a modern light shade to your bedroom can be the focal point of the room.
Sometimes, we can also have that corner of our bedroom that’s really dark. The best option to lightening this area up this by adding a floor lamp or install two bedside lamps to make the room livelier and brighter.
2. Add accessories to your bedroom

It is amazing how such a simple accessory can actually add lively touches to the bedroom. The most common accessories people add to their bedroom is possibly situating a fresh vase of flowers on the tabletop or hang an oversized piece of artwork on their wall. If your someone who's lucky enough to have an electrical fireplace (or a real fireplace) in their bedroom, lighting it at night can be ideal to incorporate the lively look of a crackling fire into your bedroom. And what couldn’t be better than replacing your old bedding with new luxurious bedding to keep that fresh new look.
3. Purchasing new furniture

If you feel that your furniture does not mix very well with the colour scheme you already have for your bedroom, then your best ideal thing is to buy new furniture. Me, personally I like buying the furniture from IKEA, as they are stuff is bigger and is more value for your money. The one thing I can say I love is their oversized tables, it allows me to have plenty of room to place my schoolwork on as well as my computer and printer and much more.
Although, if you don’t need new furniture, it's still a good idea to have a look at what they have in-store and online, so that may be in for-say 5 years down the line, you can purchase the furniture that you like. Just by adding things such as decorative drawer handles adds personality and style to nondescript or inexpensive furniture.

Choosing the right curtains can add a lot of colour and interest to your bedroom. However, it's best to have different types of curtains for different seasons. For example, for the winter it's best to have curtains that are nice but also warm to hold the heat in, especially in those winter nights when it can be extremely cold. So the next time you chose curtains to your bedroom, consider the texture, the colour, and the patterns of the curtains and how this can be beneficial to the style of your bedroom.
6. Bring in a bench

Nothing elevates a bedroom better than having a bench at the end of your bed. Benches such as an ottoman, which is good for storage or just the bamboo and seagrass bench, which not only provides extra seating, but also natural texture to space.
7. Do not match everything too much

It can be tempting to buy things for the bedroom that the same colour or texture, but nothing can be more mind-numbing and impersonal than having everything in a room match. Your bedroom should have a variety of colours and patterns to convey more personality.

Adding fresh flowers to your bedroom will add colourful blooms to keep the room feeling lively. You’d be surprised what some fresh daffodils will do on your nightstand in the summer.

Adding a touch of brightly coloured pillows can have dazzling beauties and bring an interesting look to your bedroom. Pillows don’t necessarily have to match, as long as they help to bring colour to your bedroom.
10 Having comfy and soft throw over blankets on the bed

This is my most favourite thing to have at the bottom of my bed so that when I want to cover up myself, I have something nice and light to do so. Having a throw-over blanket is one of the best things you have in your bedroom to add more colour, texture, and patterns, as well as being them to use as a heat source.
