Hello everyone and welcome back to another blog. I hope we are having a great start off to our week. So, in this blog, I decided to tell you what my courses are like this year, especially for those that are thinking about taking it next year or you aren't sure if its the right course for you. So I hope it helps!
Higher Business management
First off, for those who've completed National 5 business management, if you think that National 5 was hard, wait until you begin higher! Business management has 3 topics that we cover over the year: Understanding Business, Marketing, Operations, management of people and finance. However, most of the course is just the same as National 5, they just develop on the topics more so its not as bad as it sounds. I started taking notes in May/June time, while the rest of class, basically didn't bother about it. The best thing about starting early, you'll be ahead of the rest of class, meaning that you don't have to worry about the heavy note-taking. For example, before we started back school, I had finished an entire topic, which meant I knew what exactly was coming when I started back school.
Higher computing Science
I decided to choose higher computing, as I wanted to go back to learning about computer systems and learning about the aspects of a computer (motherboard, CPU etc). In my opinion, I have found higher computing a whole lot easier this year than when I done National 5 computing. This is mainly because that when we cover the software and development and website and development topics, its all done on a web based program called "Repl.it". I have found this form of programming so much easier than using Visual Studio and notepad++, at least now the programs is just one instead of using two completely different ones. And the best thing about it, is that your teacher can input internal commentary and instructions to help you practice your programming skills.
Enterprise
I had never heard of this subject before in the last 5 years at high school, which has surfaced out of nowhere and is surprisingly, the most popular subject in our high school. Enterprise, is a entrepreneurial subject, where you will need to think and act like a entrepreneur. You complete a few working for you exercises as well as financing activities for a stall that we will create nearer to Christmas time. So in the mean time, we have a free period (free class) to do pretty much anything we need to do for another subject, which I find an absolute steal. This will help me to get more studying done during the day and means that I have less to worry about when I go home. If any student in Scotland is thinking about taking this as a subject, then I would definitely recommend it, and at the end of the day, its a qualification.
Foundation Apprenticeship in Business Skills
Funnily enough, this is a course that I complete OUTSIDE of school, however right now, we are waiting confirmation for if we are able to go to our hub this year or if it will be done online. The good side of it, is currently while it is not running, I can leave school early on a Tuesday and Thursday, which is not a bad thing to be honest. At least I have more time to do things at home, like tidying my room, exercising etc.
Private Study
This subject, you can kinda tell what it is about (just look at the title!)
That is all my subjects that I am taking this year, very shortly I will share with you what it is I do at school on a daily basis (could be a video). But until then, I hope you all are having a fabulous week and I will see you guys soon.
