School and COVID-19

Hello everyone, and welcome back! I hope we are all staying safe and taking care of ourselves. This one is a topic that most of us will all agree that it is NOT safe to return to school. So, without further-a-do, lets get started.

Tip #1: Keeping a face mask or covering in your school bag

When the schools in Scotland went to school, nothing was informed to us that we would need to wear face masks, however I started doing this when school first started. It's a good thing to do, because then you know that you will have safety equipment to keep yourself safe, as well as practicing measures that are already in place OUTSIDE of school. Although, most of you will be aware that, as of Monday (31 August), it will be mandatory to wear a face mask or covering when in school, except when in classes. In my opinion, its maybe the best thing to do, but on the bright side, at least we do not need wear whilst in class.

Tip #2: Try to order your own books for classes that you need them

Having your own books for each classes is by far the best thing to do. By purchasing your own books, you don't have to worry about sharing a book in class (or the transfer of infection), meaning you can keep yourself safe, as well as others. To be honest I made that mistake this year, as I was planning to buy my own text books this year, but with the stresses I was faced with during the summer, I completely forgotten all about it. But never mind, they are ordered now and I should have them soon.

Tip #3: Buy your own hand sanitizer for school

I had done this the week before we started back, just so I had it for classes. Buying your own hand sanitizer will benefit you especially if there no hand sanitizer near you, its convenient to have at hand, so that you keep yourself safe and germ free. Funny thing is that the hand sanitizer I purchased is the same I always purchase, because it has the highest percentage of alcohol contain in it, however the price is sure shoot through the roof. The last time I bought hand sanitizer was 2 years ago, and the exact same one cost me £0.19, which now is £2.50. How bazaar is that?? It's amazing how much they increased since the last time I bought one. But it just goes to show that the demand for it is still very high, despite no one panic buying.

Tip #4: Try to all your notes online

I know this can seem pointless, especially if you're in school full time (5 days a week), however there is a reason for this. See, if it happens that you end up with COVID-19, you will be aware will need to self-isolate for the next 2 weeks and get tested (I'm not saying you or anyone else will get it, but you never know who's sitting next to you who may have it). Having all your notes online will help you stay on track if you have to self-isolate for 2 weeks (even if you don't have COVID-19), as well as having direct contact with your teachers/lecturers. So, if you're not apart of a online class that was created during the summer, I would suggest that you get your teacher to add you or get the class code to join. This will also help you check any notes that you may missed, or if you have lost your notebook.
