Hello everyone and welcome back! I do apologize that it is a little late, I’ve just been caught up with my work lately. Today I will share with you why lockdown is not so bad.

Places such as in the UK and other European countries are on the basis of being in lockdown since the COVID-19 outbreak. With this, it has caused millions of people to die under this horrible virus and left many families heartbroken. Furthermore, the UK Government had decided that under the current situation, we have no other choice but to be in lockdown. How long it will last for? No one knows the answer, not even the health advisors of the Government.

Despite people thinking that lockdown will make things worse and will have a dramatic impact on family, friends, and many more, lockdown may not be such a bad thing. Let me explain why…

Repairing Our Mental Health

Many people who had the stress of the supposed upcoming exams, will no longer feel that stress of sitting in the exam hall, as well as not needing to study a lot now. If you live in Scotland in particular, you’ll obviously know that this year, SQA will give those senior students of Scottish high schools, a grade that is based on their achievement throughout the year and how the teacher thinks your doing in that subject. This is good in the sense that if you put a lot of hard work and effort into those subjects, you will get a good grade. Hopefully, this year, everyone gets the grade they wanted this year, due to this is not our fault that the exams got canceled, our Education Secretary, John Swinney was looking out for the health and safety of the young people. So, for those who have been stressed out since August last year, you can rest up now, take a break from all the stress and worry the exams have caused you. But most importantly, let us take this time to look after the health and wellbeing of ourselves and others. So please, use this time wisely to sit and talk with family, play a sport in the back gardens, start looking after ourselves better, because this is the perfect time to make you, a better you.

Focusing on what we’re actually eating

Before lockdown has begun, we were all so caught up in our work, our daily lives, and the busy schedules we had to run on, that sometimes, we ate what we could get our hands on. For example, you may have had to work through your lunch break, you would just stop by the vending machine and buy a muffin and a packet of crisps to save yourself time, right? Well now, you are able to feed your body the nutrients it needs to properly functions and produce many things such as protein, vitamins, hydration, etc. The next time you plan to go to your weekly shopping, make yourself a daily meal plan, and plan out your meals. This will not only help you to make better food choices but improve your wellbeing and lifestyle.

Taking the Time to Meditate

Right now, it has never been the best time to meditate. Especially that your mind is all over the place in the current situation. Doing meditation first thing in the morning, and the last thing at night is the most efficient way to wake up feeling great going through your day and feeling relieved when going to sleep at night. This does not need to be like an hour of zen meditation, it can be as little as 5 minutes. Did you know even meditating 5 minutes a day can be as beneficial as a 5-minute walk, jog, or sprint? By meditating, it helps to improve focus, self-compassion, mood, immune function, and better quality of sleep. So whenever you feel that you need at least a 5-minute break from everything, take the time to meditate and help strengthen your brain’s fiber connections.

Bonding Time

It might not seem like it, but you now actually have the time now to sit with the ones you love. All those times you haven’t been able to play with your child, or your brother, or your sister, now you have the opportunity, take it while we have it. Because after all, it’s those memories that we cherish the most, knowing that we spent quality time with those that we love. And put this way, once this is all over with, we will learn that it is important to spend time with your family, friends or your significant other because it's those moments that matter most, not the money you make from your job, or how big a house you have. You do not need the luxury to be happy, because being happy is luxury.

Well, that’s gonna do it for today guys and gals. I really hope you enjoyed reading this blog, and again I do apologize it was a little late.
