Hello everyone and welcome back! First, I want to say sorry that I haven't posted in a while, I've just been trying to catch up on a few things. There's been a lot of things that have changed in my life (some more dramatic than others) during this current situation. So, today I'd thought to share with you tips and advice about health, fitness and wellbeing during the current situation of lockdown.

To begin with, I'm sure I was like most of you in the UK, where Boris Johnson announced on the 23rd March 2020, that we were not to socialise with our friends, we were to stay at home, and we were only allowed to leave the house if the journey was necessary. For me, everything just felt like nothing, as though I was in some cramped box with no light to see. However, two weeks or so afterward, I began to feel better, especially knowing I had the comfort of my family around me. After those two weeks, I began to meditate more in the morning, as a way to relieve stress and anxiety, and instead of feeling trapped as I did at the start, I actually felt freer than ever. Especially from worries and stresses, I'd normally go through in my daily life, such as school, work, family, etc. having those pressure points being taken off my shoulders made a big difference in how I felt. But now, let's get back into the blog, shall we?

1. Take the time to meditate

This is by far the best form of self-care that you are able to do. Meditation is a period of silence where you actually take the time to listen to your body and hear what it has to say. Also, meditation is good for relieving stress, anxiety and constant thinking, especially for the current situation we are all in. I like to meditate first thing in the morning because I feel I have this time to relax and start my day in a positive and happy mindset. The days I meditate are my most productive days, I feel like I get more done in the day (even tasks that were meant for a different day). For those of you who have come here regularly, you'll have heard me mention an app called "Lets Meditate" in my previous blogs.. This app is by far the best app I have ever used for meditation, it ha a ton of different spoken meditations you can listen to, depending on a particular theme, setting and emotion you would like to hear. I will leave the link to this app for both play store and Apple app store if you wish to try this app out.

2. Keeping a balanced-healthy diet

Sometimes it can be difficult to stick to healthy eating and I'm sure there are many of us out there who won't care what they eat, due to being stuck in the house. Yes, it's okay to have a "cheat meal" once and a while, but when it becomes an everyday thing, then that's when it starts to get worse. Foods that are high in fiber, protein, and vitamins should be the kind of foods you want to be aiming for, like peanuts, apples, almonds, and bananas, etc.

One way that I try to make sure I have the right amount of nutrition that my body needs is by having 1 1/2 cups of fruit and veg, 2 cups of protein, 150g of carbohydrates, and 3 litres of water. Now, I'm not saying that you should go ahead and do the exact same thing, but I am saying is that you should try to include some form of fruit and veg, protein and carbohydrates into your diet.

3. Going for a walk

It seems very little, but waking for at least 30 minutes a day can be all the more beneficial. Walking is the easiest and best form of exercise you could do, as we walk near enough all the time. I'm always quite curious to see how many steps I've taken during my day and then set a target to beat. This is just a fun way for me to just get out and get some fresh air. One way I've begun walking more is by taking our family dog, Aussie, for a walk in the mornings. I really enjoy our walks because it motivates me to walk that extra kilometer with him. I think that, if you're lucky and fortunate enough to have a dog, this is the biggest and best reason why you need to go outside. Sometimes when it's sunny I'll genuinely go a longer walk to not only get more exercise but to feel more happy about myself.

4. Working out from home

Now I'm not gonna lie, I have been in this boat before, where I really can't be bothered to exercise, but if you push yourself that little bit harder, it will feel a lot more better and rewarding. I will tend to exercise three times a week (Mon, Wed, Fri), but like I said it really just depends on how I feel. I've been using an app that I have been using for the last two years now called "Exercise timer". This app is a timer where you can set intervals for each exercises, the amount of reps, and the time for rests. I really like this app because it helps me to get a good workout into my day and feel better about myself. I will leave the link below and you can check it out if you are interested. (I do believe you can only download it if your phone is an Andriod.

5. Having the right mindset

Now, this is essential if you want to achieve a particular goal for a particular reason. In order to achieve your goals, you've got to have the right mindset (otherwise its a waste of time trying to accomplish something you don't want). Sometimes, we have goals that you want to achieve, however if you know that there's going to be obstacles in the way and you decide not to do it, DON'T has this mindset. If you want to achieve something do it, you only have to think about what it is you can do to overcome those obstacles. Don't wait for it to be given to you off a golden spoon, work for it. You'll feel happier and rewarded with what you've accomplished.
